City of League City Fireworks Spectacular July 3 and July 4 Citizen Appreciation Day

The City of League City will host two days of events to celebrate Independence Day.

First the City will host its first ever “Light Up the Sky Fireworks Spectacular,” a pre-Independence Day celebration on Monday, July 3 from 6 to 10 p.m. at Chester L. Sportsplex, 1251 W. League City Parkway.  Residents are invited to come out and enjoy a colorful light show, a variety of food trucks, live music, entertainment and inflatables. Admission to the event is free. Those attending are encouraged to bring lawn chairs to watch the fireworks show, which will begin at sundown.

The next day the City will host the annual Citizens Appreciation Day on Tuesday, July 4, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at League Park at 200 N. Park Ave.  The Mayor, City Council, the Parks Board, and Parks and Recreation staff will be serving refreshments in appreciation of the citizens of League City.  There will also be live music, bounce houses, face painter, and a petting zoo.

“This is a great event for the entire family,” said Director of Parks Chien Wei.  “Bring your patriotic spirit and enjoy the free food, entertainment and fun.”

The City will serve more than 4,000 hotdogs, snow cones, cotton candy and nachos.

“Citizens Appreciation Day is an opportunity for the City to say “Thank you” to the residents for helping make League City such a wonderful place to live and work,” said Parks and Recreation Superintendent Kenny Walsh.

The City of League City’s Fire Marshal’s Office would like to remind residents that selling, buying, using, or possessing fireworks in the city limits of League City is illegal.

Noisemakers, “poppers” and sparklers are available in local stores and are allowed throughout the night.
