Citizen Police Academy Registration Open

League City residents are encouraged to apply for the next session of the League City Citizen Police Academy, which begins on Tuesday, February 5, 2019. The Citizen Police Academy was formed in League City in 2002 and gives residents an opportunity to see how and why the League City Police Department operates as it does. There is a spring and fall class every year and the course is 15 weeks long with meetings once a week. Applicants must be employed in League City or be a resident, at least 18 years of age, have a valid driver's license, and pass a background check. Applications (PDF) for the February class should be submitted by January 8, 2019, and can be scanned and emailed, sent by USPS mail or turned in at the police department.


Students will receive instruction on:


  • Accident investigation
  • Detention Officers
  • Criminal investigations
  • Family violence
  • Firearm safety
  • Illicit drugs
  • Juvenile laws
  • Patrol operations
  • Texas penal code
  • Traffic law
  • Use of force
  • And much more
