Design and construct two kayak launches to extend the Clear Creek Connections Paddle Trail further down Clear Creek by providing handicapped accessible launches at Kansas Avenue and Clear Creek (Kansas) and within the Dr. Ned and Fay Dudney Clear Creek Nature Center west of FM 270 in an embayment of Clear Creek (the Nature Center).
The project also includes a grant of $200,000 for planning and design. Grant funding for construction is available up to $400,000 during a latter grant cycle, but the City will have to apply for the funding.
Subdivisions, Areas, or Streets Impacted
Kansas Avenue and Clear Creek east of Kansas Avenue within the future Kilgore Tract park site and an embayment on the east side of Clear Creek, west of FM 270, within the Dr. Ned and Fay Dudney Clear Creek Nature Center.
Project Status as of May 2022
This is a CIP Project funded by the 4B Corporation. City Council awarded the design contract on July 14, 2020. Both sites are being run as one design project, and at this time, preliminary schematic designs are complete. Surveying, Geotech, and final design are awaiting a Phase 2 Environmental Site Assessment (Ph 2 ESA) on the Kansas Avenue site due to undocumented uses during the history of the site. Following the Ph 2 ESA, surveying, Geotech work and final design, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Permits will be required. Design is anticipated to be complete during late 2022 with permitting to follow. Bidding is planned to follow the approval of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers permit, a Texas General Land Office Land Lease, and renewal of a Texas Department of Transportation Multiple Use Agreement with construction to follow.
