FM 518 Waterline Replacement (I45 to Palomino Lane)

Budget

$2.73 million

Scope of Work

Provide construction services associated with the replacement of the existing 10-inch diameter waterline along the northwest side of FM 518, from I45 to Palomino Lane, with a new 12-inch diameter waterline. The total footage of waterline to be replaced is estimated to be approximately 8,356 linear feet of 12-inch water mains, plus 1,488 linear feet of branching lines, including cased waterline crossings of FM 518. A portion of this project is being expedited to mitigate future conflict with a TxDOT hike and bike trail and a drainage project that will impact already limited right-of-way.

Project Status as of May 2022

Six bids were received on May 4, 2022 (one disqualified for lack of schedule) and D.L. Elliott was the lowest bidder providing a bid of $2,481,385 with a schedule of 180 days to reach substantial completion (plus an additional 30 days on the front for critical utility locates). Award of contract was approved in late May, and construction efforts are anticipated to start in August due to delays in pipe manufacturing. From the date of material delivery, the project is scheduled to take six months.
