Following
an extremely wet winter, most people aren’t wishing for April showers and wet
weather. However, League City is asking residents to do their part this month to
“shower” the City’s animal shelter with supplies and donations. For the entire
month of April, League City Pets Alive is collecting donations for the shelter’s
neonatal puppies and kittens, which typically increase during spring’s warmer
weather.
To
kick off the collection drive, the shelter is hosting its “Purrs and Paws
Shower” on Saturday, April 6, from noon to 2 p.m. at League City Pets
Alive located at 821 North Kansas. Those who donate 100 pee pads or more, a
case of Royal Canin Puppy/Kitten food, or a $50 Gift Card will be entered into
a prize drawing.
Here
are some the items needed:
· KMR or Breeder’s Edge formula (can and powder)
· Replacement nipples
· Royal Canin cat food (dry and wet )
· Royal Canin starter mousse (puppy)
· Gram scales
· Puppy pads
· Pet store gift cards
Donations can be dropped off at the shelter throughout the month of April on Tuesdays through Thursdays from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and on Fridays and Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. League City Pets Alive also has created a "wish
list" on Amazon and residents can order directly off this list and the items will be delivered directly to the shelter.
Although
donations are extremely important in keeping newborn animals in a healthy
condition, League City Pets Alive is also in need of volunteers and fosters. According
to Jasmine O’Keefe, LCPA Volunteer Coordinator, “Last year we had over 400
kittens and puppies that came into our shelter that all were neonatal, and
bottle fed infants. Our annual kitten and puppy shower helps us make sure that all
of our fosters are prepared and supplied to take care of these animals”.
