League City’s Clean and Green Committee is hosting the City’s first ever EcoFest on Saturday, October 12 at the Johnnie Arolfo Civic Center from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The free, family friendly event is also serving an early Arbor Day celebration. Here are ten reasons why you and your family should attend.
- Free Trees. CenterPoint Energy is teaming up with League City to hand out 200 free trees on a first come first served basis. Species include American Sycamore, White Oak, Bur Oak, Pecan, Red Maple, and American Elm.
- Free on-site shredding. Get your documents together and bring them out. A mobile shredding truck from Iron Mountain will be on-site from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
- Free hotdogs and snow cones. Enjoy a free hotdog lunch from noon to 1 p.m. and free snow cones.
- Free t-shirts and swag. Various League City Departments will be handing out swag items on a first come first served basis, including the 2019 League City EcoFest commemorative t-shirt.
- Activities for the kids. The Moody Gardens Conservation unit is bringing out several animals for “show and tell” and a special kid’s zone will feature crafts, a coloring station, and prizes.
- Demonstrations. Learn more about beekeeping, gardening, and more at several live demonstrations.
- Farmer’s Market. Vendors from the Texas Gourmet Market will be on hand selling food, farm products, and handmade items.
- Win a Prize. Attendees who visit all 10 League City department booths will be entered into a raffle to win various prizes.
- Talk to someone about your water bill. Customer service representatives from the City’s Utility Billing Department will be on hand to individually review customer water bill accounts and sign folks up for the City’s water tracker.
- Adopt a puppy or kitty. League City Pets Alive is bringing puppies and kitties available for adoption and is giving away free poop bags. Plus, learn how you and your family can purchase a commemorative paver for the new League City Animal Care and Adoption Center opening in January 2020.
