City crews and contractors are scheduled to begin repairs, weather permitting, on November 13 to a failed 84-inch diameter storm sewer line that crosses underneath South Shore Boulevard near the intersection of FM 518. The failure of this line has caused a sinkhole, and if left unaddressed, it could lead to failure of the roadway. As part of this repair, approximately 100 linear feet of pipe will be removed and replaced with a 7 feet x 6 feet reinforced concrete box, a 40-foot long section of roadway will be removed and replaced, and section of sidewalk will be removed and replaced.
From November 13-20 both northbound lanes of South Shore Boulevard will be closed. See the map below for the detour route.
