It’s so easy to shop online, but there’s something special about taking time out of your day to search for the perfect gift in person. It’s like the difference between a hastily typed out text message and a lovingly crafted handwritten letter. League City has tons of fantastic locally-owned businesses. I’ve chosen a few of my local favorites and made a mini holiday shopping guide for y’all. The mall will be crowded and chaotic, but if you #ShopSmall you’re in for a great experience and fantastic customer service. And remember, for every dollar spent at a small business, 67 cents stays in the community. Bonus: Almost every shop listed is on Main Street, so you won’t have to do much driving!
For the Hard to Buy For
Founder’s Square | 501 E Main St.
One of my favorite places to shop in League City is Founder’s Square in the Historic District. The charming store fronts are always beautifully decorated for the holidays, providing some Christmas cheer before you even step inside. From specialty coffees, gourmet food items, home décor, purses and jewelry, to quirky gifts you won’t find anywhere else, it’s so much to fun to browse these locally-owned shops, chat with the owners, and pick out presents for friends and family. Stop by this weekend and visit Ginger Snaps, Annette’s Emporium, Nana’s Attic, Mommie Chic and Me, and Se La Ve Antiques for some holiday shopping.

For the Sentimental
Tate’s Home Décor and Custom Framing | 1818 W. Main St.
This local shop has been serving League City since 1964. If you’ve got a special item you’d like to frame—artwork, a jersey, a treasured family memento—they will take care of you, and ensure you have a beautiful piece to gift to a friend or family member. Between my kids’ artwork and my husband’s favorite old rugby jerseys, I can think of dozens of items I’d love to have framed. If you have a sentimental person on your Christmas list, head to Tate’s and create a custom-made, one-of-a-kind gift they will always remember.
For the Cigar Aficionado
El Cubano Cigars | 916 E. Main St.
This place is as authentic as it gets. El Cubano is a family-owned business, with a long history of tobacco growing and cigar rolling in Havana, Cuba. My husband frequents this shop, and even has a co-worker who drives down from Kingwood to purchase cigars here. With a wide selection, a welcoming atmosphere, and an incredibly knowledgeable staff, you can’t go wrong. From Havana to League City, this family puts their decades of expertise into each custom, hand-rolled cigar.
For the Mermaid at Heart
Glass Mermaids | 2098 Marina Bay Dr.
Mermaids are all the rage, and you’ll find every mermaid-themed accessory under the sun in this imaginative ocean-themed shop that’s been in League City for 15 years. From jewelry and clothing to home décor and southeast Texas-themed odds and ends (like a Gulf of Mexico kitchen platter), this nautical wonderland specializes in gorgeous gifts that will bring a little bit of ocean wonder into your life. I’ve purchased gifts here for both my mother and daughter…and let’s be honest, I’ve bought some things for myself, too. Glass Mermaids is owned by Debi Sullivan, who also supports small business by purchasing items for her store from local artists. Click here to learn more about Debi and her mer-mazing shop.
For the Fashionista
Ivory Boutique | 1101 W Main St.
League City is brimming with boutique shopping, and Ivory Boutique is one of my favorites. From classy work looks, casual weekend wear, and glammed-up dresses, there’s plenty to choose from. Recently we got to know Ivory Boutique owner, Jesse Cerros, who is a proud League City resident. Read more about Jesse and her fab clothing boutique in our recent interview with her.
The Salted Hippie | 613 E Main St.
Stop by The Salted Hippie, where you’ll find styles with a Boho Southern twist. They’ve got sizes to suit any shape, and lots of fun colors and patterns that will brighten up any wardrobe. The owner of The Salted Hippie—Dauné Ortiz—spoke to us about what inspires her and why she loves living in League City. Learn more about Dauné and The Salted Hippie by reading her #LCLocal interview.
For the Outdoor Chef
Chim-Chimneys | 830 W. Main St.
A year ago we purchased a Big Green Egg from Chim-Chimneys, and life hasn’t been the same. It. Is. Amazing. If your loved one enjoys cooking outdoors, you’ll find a trove of fantastic gift ideas here. This location is one of the only Big Green Egg “Authorized Gold Dealers” in the Houston metro, meaning if you want a Green Egg, this is where you’ll find the most options. Aside from Green Eggs, Chim-Chimneys has everything you could want to create the outdoor kitchen of your dreams, as well as barbecue accessories and seasonings that any grilling enthusiast will love. (Note: Chim-Chimneys will be closed on Small Business Saturday for the Thanksgiving holiday, but I encourage you to stop by during the holiday season, because they have so many great products).
Happy Shopping, Y’all!
