On Sunday, April 19 , Galveston County Health District reported 5 new positive COVID-19 cases in Galveston County residents. This brings the county’s case total to 455.
There is also two additional deaths
- A male, age range 61-70, passed away April 18. He had pre-existing medical conditions.
- A female, age range 61-70, passed away April 18. She had pre-existing medical conditions.

As of April 19, GCHD is reporting 193 recoveries.

On April 18, the health district tested a total of 326 people (86 in Galveston and 240 in Texas City) through its free COVID-19 drive-thru testing site. There was no testing on April 19. Testing is not limited to just Galveston County residents, but only county residents who tested positive for COVID-19 will be included in the health district’s daily case update.
Two sites are currently offering free COVID-19 testing to anyone, regardless of symptoms. Those who want to be tested must make an appointment.
