[ARCHIVED] Resident To Be Honored for Life Saving Efforts

When League City resident Justin Thomas made a simple trip to the grocery store to buy milk for his one-year-old twins on June 18, he was not expecting to save the life of a stranger. Thomas was at the Kroger on East League City Parkway when he heard screaming coming from a nearby aisle.  He immediately moved in the direction of the screams and noticed a woman, Brenda Menotti, passed out on the floor and having what appeared to be a heart attack. Using his CPR training, Thomas performed chest compression on Brenda until League City paramedics arrived and transported her to a local hospital, where she later recovered.

Jaime Singeltary, daughter of Brenda Menotti, is very grateful for Justin’s quick actions and for his knowledge of CPR. “To have our mom still here with us is such a blessing, and we owe it all to Justin,” said Jaime.

League City Mayor Pat Hallisey will present Justin with a “League City Life Saving Award” at the July 28 council meeting. The father of four does not consider himself a hero, just someone who was at the right place at the right time. Regardless, Brenda and her family are grateful and want to encourage everyone to learn CPR.

The League City EMS Department offers CPR training to League City residents for a small fee. To learn more, visit https://www.leaguecity.com/894/CPR-Info
