The League City Public Works Department has a new home.
Administration staff recently relocated to the new Public Works Operations Center located on the west side of town at 1701 League City Parkway. The building was purchased from Frontier Communications in 2020 after Hurricane Harvey damaged the previous Public Works building located on Dickinson Avenue beyond reasonable repair. Staff of the Water Production, Streets, Storm &Traffic Departments and Urban Forestry Services were relocated in the first phase and are now fully operational.
The second phase will occur in coordination with the completion of the ongoing Butler/Turner roadway improvements to minimize traffic in the area and will include the addition of field crews and equipment. The operations center is expected to house a total 75 employees.
"This is a great asset to the citizens of League City," said Ryan Smith, Director of IT and Facilities for the City of League City. "This is the first non-public safety building on the west side of town that allows us to serve citizens more effectively."
