[ARCHIVED] Boil Water Notice Issued For League City

fb BOIL WATER

Due to current regional and area wide water system demand associated with the on-going weather event, the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality has required the City of League City public water system to notify all customers to boil their water prior to consumption (e.g., washing hands/face, brushing teeth, drinking, etc). Children, seniors, and persons with weakened immune systems are particularly vulnerable to harmful bacteria, and all customers should follow these directions).

To ensure destruction of all harmful bacteria and other microbes, water for drinking, cooking, and ice making should be boiled and cooled prior to use for drinking water or human consumption purposes. The water should be brought to a vigorous rolling boil and then boiled for two minutes.

In order to return League City’s water pressure and end the boil water requirement, we are asking all residents to stop dripping water from their faucets and outdoor pipes and to identify any leaks that may be caused by broken pipes. To report a broken water line, please call League City Line Repair at 281-554-1390.

We are also asking residents to reduce their water consumption and to NOT run their dishwasher or washing machine and to take short showers instead of baths.

Public water systems are required to maintain water pressure above 20 psi (normal system pressure is between 60 and 65 psi) and are required to issue a boil water notice if it goes below this level due to the potential for biological contaminants in the water.
