The City of League City will be hosting two public meetings in April to discuss upcoming drainage projects. Booth meetings will be held at 6:30 p.m. in the Johnnie Arolfo Civic Center’s Ballroom and will be also broadcasted live through the City’s website and Facebook page.
Clear Creek Tributaries Select Clearing and Desnagging Project
The April 7 meeting will focus on the Clear Creek Tributaries Select Clearing and Desnagging Project. This project will desnag and remove vegetation from selected segments of 4 Clear Creek Tributaries. The project limits for this work are as follows:
- Magnolia Creek from Clear Creek to FM 518
- Cedar Gully from Clear Creek to FM 518
- Landing Ditch from Clear Creek to FM 518
- Newport Ditch from Landing Ditch to FM 518
The project is estimated to increase capacity of the impacted segment of Magnolia Creek by 53%, Cedar Gully by 38%, and Landing Ditch by 34% and Newport Ditch by 56%. The design of the project is nearing 90% complete and this meeting is intended to provide the public with an update of the project and next steps. A public meeting on this project was held in October 2019.
Magnolia Creek and Cedar Gully Channel Improvements Project
The April 8 meeting will be held for the Magnolia Creek and Cedar Gully Improvements Project. This project is part of the 2019 GO Bond Prop A projects. This project will correct erosion of channel beds and low flow sections, stabilize failed side-slopes, increase long term channel stability, and help maintain flood control for the adjoining neighborhoods.
The anticipated project areas are as shown on the map in yellow. The design of the project is 30% complete and this meeting is intended to provide the public with an update of the project and next steps. A public meeting on this project was held in June 2019.
