League City is hosting a Community Toy Drive for Interfaith Caring Ministries from November 22 to December 10. Collection boxes will be located at the Helen Hall Library, Hometown Heroes Recreation Center, City Hall, the City Hall Annex, and the Civic Center for citizens to drop off new and unwrapped toys during normal business hours. Collection boxes will also be at League Park during the City's Holiday Tree Lighting on November 27 and at League City Proud's annual "Holiday in the Park" Festival December 3-5. Last year, League City residents were extremely generous and in only one week hundreds of items were dropped off. This year, we have extended the drive to three weeks and hope to support even more families in our community.
Interfaith Caring Ministries is a local non-profit based in League City that serves struggling families in our community and across Galveston County. Every year, they create a “toy store” the third week of December so their clients can have the experience of “shopping” for presents for their children. It allows the parents a chance to maintain a sense of dignity, wrap the gifts themselves, and experience the joy of their child opening up a present they truly wanted, needed, or asked for from Santa.
