At their August 23 meeting, the League City Council voted to propose a tax rate of $0.415526 per $100 of appraised home value for 2022 which supports the upcoming 2023 Fiscal Year budget, which begins October 1, 2022. The rate is scheduled to be officially adopted at the September 27 Council meeting. This proposed rate is five cents lower than last year’s property tax rate of $0.465526. If adopted by Council at the end of September, it will be the eighth consecutive year that League City has reduced the property tax rate.
In addition, at their August 23 meeting, City Council approved the first reading of the proposed Fiscal Year 2023 Budget Ordinance and held a hearing for public comment. A second and final reading of the budget and an additional public hearing are scheduled for the September 13 Council Meeting. The deadline to adopt the FY 2023 Budget Ordinance is September 20. The deadline to adopt the new tax rate is September 29.
