The City of League City is partnering with quilters Sheryl Hayslip-Bahena—from Teo’s Treasures Quilt Shop in Dickinson—and Mitzi Leatherman, who are spearheading a project to bring awareness to wounded veterans, the lasting effects of PTSD, and to the family members of veterans who have lost their lives to PTSD or to an injury while serving our country. The two ladies are on a mission to collect 500 hand-made quilts to distribute on November 11, 2022, to veterans and to their surviving family members. The quilts will be distributed at a luncheon and ceremony on Veterans Day at Hometown Heroes Park in League City.
How can I receive a quilt?
If you’re a veteran or surviving family member of a veteran and would like to request a quilt, please visit leaguecity.com/quilt
How can I support this project?
If you would like to make or donate a quilt, email Mitzi at Mitzileatherman03@gmail.com or call Teo’s Treasures Quilt Shop at 281-532-6248. Quilts do NOT need to have a patriotic theme or color palette. You can even donate an unfinished quilt and Teo’s Treasures will finish it for you.
The quilts will be on display in City facilities starting in October. Please drop off quilts as soon as possible.
