Spring Household Hazardous Waste Event
As part of League City’s agreement with AmeriWaste, there are two Household Hazardous Waste disposal events hosted at Hometown Heroes each year in the spring and fall. Starting in 2023, AmeriWaste will also provide two curbside HHW disposal events, one in the summer and one in winter. Schedule and details to be provided in the coming weeks.
NOTE: The building at Hometown Heroes Park will be CLOSED on Saturday; the dog park will remain open.
2023 Spring Household Hazardous Waste Info
Date: Saturday, March 18
Time: 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Location: Hometown Heroes Park, 1001 E. League City Parkway
Cost: Free (no registration required). League City residents will need to bring their driver’s license and a recent water bill as proof of residency.
Accepted & Unaccepted Items
Residents will be able to drop off accepted items, including paint-related materials, household cleaners, white goods (free of freon) and microwaves, batteries (no rechargeable batteries), electronics (TVs, computers, and monitors), pool chemicals, aerosol cans, tires (maximum of 4), and fluorescent bulbs at no cost. Containers should be sealed and in their original packing.
Unaccepted Items include hazardous chemicals not in original container, business/commercial waste, medical waste (pharmaceuticals, sharps, and needles), radioactive waste, ammunition, explosives, compressed gas cylinders, and smoke detectors. Items without their original labels cannot be accepted. Place leaking containers in a larger non-leaking container.

Free Household Hazardous Waste Disposal at Stella Roberts Facility
Stella Roberts Recycling Center in Pearland takes a variety of Hazardous Waste Materials. Residents can make an appointment to drop off HHW at the facility—located at 5800 Magnolia Pkwy—from Tuesday through Saturday. There is no fee for League City residents who bring a driver’s license and recent utility bill for proof of residency.
Acceptable items include brake fluid, household chemicals and cleaners, paints and stains (max of 25 cans), general chemicals and adhesives, and lawn and pool chemicals. If your material is not listed, please call ahead at 281-489-2795 prior to booking your appointment to inquire about what items will be accepted.
