People on the inside of a boat

On Tuesday, the Fire Department in conjunction with members for the US Coast Guard Station Houston, received hands on training with Raymarine on the side scan sonar capabilities of Marine 2. Side scan sonar would be utilized during the an unfortunate recovery efforts within our area of responsibility. As seen in the picture below, the bright rectangle, marked Waypoint 1, was a training aid (aka dog crate) that we placed in the water and were able to locate. Along with the training, Raymarine was able to complete the necessary updates to the electronics to ensure that we are operating with the most effective electronics package. Citizens, the US Coast Guard and other surrounding communities frequently call the department to respond with their fire boat to emergenices on Clear Lake. Sonar is one of the many capabilities of the all-harzard boat.
