I-45 Southbound Lanes to Open Next Week

This weekend there will be several ramp closures as TxDOT prepares for a major traffic switch that will transition I-45 southbound lanes—between FM 528 to SH 96—to their permanent configuration on the new pavement. By Monday morning, FOUR southbound lanes will be open. 

Closures will be from Friday, March 24 at 9 pm to Monday, March 27 at 5 am, but ramps will reopen as work is completed. 

List of weekend closures and detours

Location: Two alternating lane closures on southbound lanes between FM 528 and SH 96
Detour: No detour required. One lane will be open to traffic.

Location: Total closure of the southbound entrance ramp from Bay Area Blvd.
Detour: Use El Dorado Blvd. entrance ramp

Location: Total closure of eastbound ramp at Nasa flyover 
Detour: Traffic will exit at southbound exit ramp to FM 528 and then travel east at the intersection. 

Location: Total closure of southbound exit ramp to FM 518
Detour: Traffic will continue south to FM 646 and use U-turn to travel north to FM 518

Location: Total closure of southbound exit ramp to SH 96
Detour: Traffic will continue south to FM 646 and use U-turn to travel north to SH 96
