During the May 9 League City Council meeting, Deer Park Mayor Jerry Mouton and City Manager James Stokes shared their sincere thanks and appreciation for the assistance and manpower League City provided after a tornado tore through their city on January 24. The EF3-rated tornado left behind extensive damage throughout Deer Park and knocked out power to thousands of residents for nearly a week. Members of the League City Emergency Operations Office were dispatched to the city to assist with debris and clean-up efforts, as were members of the Public Works, Police, and Fire Departments.
The two city leaders presented Council with a Community Service Appreciation award for the dedicated service League City staff provided to the people of Deer Park in the aftermath of the tornado.
“We really wanted to come in person and say thank you,” said Deer Park Mayor Jerry Mouton
“We have built strong relationships between the various city leaders in our area,” said Deer Park City Manager James Stokes. “League City Manager John Baumgartner was the first city manager to reach out to me right after the tornado hit to offer his support. I appreciate that deeply and I thank John and his staff very much.”
