The Dr. Ned and Fay Dudney Clear Creek Nature Center will be temporarily closed starting in early June due to a Capital Improvement (CIP) project that will improve the City’s drinking water infrastructure. The project will install approximately 17,000 feet of 36-inch PVC pipe connecting the State Highway 3 Booster Pump Station with the South Shore Harbor Booster Pump Station. This will provide a secondary route of potable (drinking) water supply to the city from one of League City’s major intake points at the State Highway 3 Booster Pump Station.
As part of the project, a portion of the waterline will go through the nature center. Contractors will be utilizing horizontal directional drilling so as to not disturb the prairie and other natural areas of the park.
The nature center is anticipated to be reopened in early to late fall of 2023. During the construction, there will be no public access or programming at the park.
