The State Firemen’s and Fire Marshal’s Association (SFFMA) is the governing body for certifications and training of our volunteer firefighters. Certifications range from Firefighter I to Rescue to Fire Officer with many more specialty disciplines. SFFMA recently changed their certification process to get local coordinators better access and make the whole process more user-friendly. In the meantime, League City volunteer firefighters have been busy taking courses and gaining new certifications. It is believed that League City volunteers set the record for a month in May with 68 new certifications.
The top three certifications gained by City volunteers are Fire Instructor I, Fire Fighter II and Wildland Firefighter. The 68 certifications will be recognized at the monthly VFD business meeting. Congratulations to all the hard work done by the volunteers!
