[ARCHIVED] Consulting Firm Studying Prospective Development on City Owned Land

Short Updates with Mayor Long Graphics 375x168

During the recent legislative session, League City worked with Senator Mayes Middleton and Representative Greg Bonnen to pass a bill that will allow League City to move forward with a prospective project to develop some city-owned land into a billion-dollar development with restaurants, shopping, a convention center, arena, and a variety of other amenities.

In addition, the approved bill would provide League City with a portion of state sales tax and state liquor tax to assist in the funding to develop and build out the project.

In this edition of Short Updates with Mayor Long, League City's mayor provides the latest information on the proposed development including the City recently entering into a contract with a consulting firm and a developer to study and lay out the parameters of the prospective project. The study, which is expected to last six months or more, will look at specific requirements in the state’s bill, assess costs and the overall market, examine traffic and drainage needs, evaluate the possible involvement of non-profit and community partners, and much more.  Watch the video below to learn more.
