July is Parks & Rec Month!
Did you know since 1985, the National Recreation and Parks Association (NRPA) has celebrated July as America’s official Park and Recreation Month. This is a time for us to celebrate the importance of parks and recreation in our lives. We invite you to celebrate Park and Recreation Month with us throughout the month of July! Every day we will have something to celebrate Parks and Recreation Month. National Give Something Away Day- Help support he Little Free Pantry at Hometown Heroes Park by dropping off non-perishable food items!
July 16
Join us at Newport Park from 5 to 7 p.m. for our Pop Up Park! We will have games and a story time. The story time will start at 5 p.m.

Family Fun Night
Join us Friday, July 14 for a tropical escape in our backyard! Family Fun Night at Hometown Heroes Pool will be a night of fun games, prizes, music and more! This event will take place from 6 to 10 p.m. Entry fee is $6 per person for residents and $10 per person for non-residents.
Nature with Kristine
Join us at the Community Center Saturday, July 15 for 2 Nature with Kristine events! Both events are free to the public and all materials are provided.
- Sensory Summer Fun from 9 to 11 a.m.
- Nature Arts & Crafts- Dragonflies from 2 to 4 p.m.

Registration for our programs can be done in person or by visiting our online registration site. The brochure can be viewed online or picked up at Hometown Heroes Park or the Community Center.
Nature Journaling Workshop
Join Kristine Rivers of Birding for Fun for this hands-on nature journaling workshop- no drawing skills required! Nature journals are a wonderful way to interpret the world around you and create a treasured memory of your discoveries and experiences. We'll review ideas for how to use your journal, then go outdoors for some relaxed journaling time before reconvening in the classroom. This class will take place at the Community Center.
- Dates/Times: Saturdays, 9 a.m. to Noon
- Cost: $60 ($40 for return students)
- Ages: 14 and older
Private Acoustic Guitar Lessons
There are a few openings left on Fridays in the next session that starts July 21! Participants can register for a 30 minute private lesson. Each session consists of 6 lessons with a fee of $120. Participants will need to have their own guitar. Classes take place at the Community Center. Classes are available for ages 6 and older.
Fall Recreation Programs
Registration for the majority of our Fall Recreation and Aquatic classes opens July 19 at 8 a.m. for League City residents and August 2 for non-residents. Fall Sports and Adult Men's basketball is currently open for residents and will open July 26 for non-residents.
