July is Parks & Rec Month!
Did you know since 1985, the National Recreation and Parks Association (NRPA) has celebrated July as America’s official Park and Recreation Month. This is a time for us to celebrate the importance of parks and recreation in our lives. We invite you to celebrate Park and Recreation Month with us throughout the month of July! Every day we will have something to celebrate Parks and Recreation Month. Join us at Hometown Heroes Park for a Family Fun Night of Yard Games from 7 to 8:30 p.m. This is a free event open. Also grab some Parks and Rec swag items while your there!

Download your Scavenger Hunt card online and visit one of our local parks for a fun-filled day! Submit your card to the Parks email to be entered in to win Parks and Recreation swag items!

Are you an artist? Come join us and share your artistic talent and design your canvas on July 30 from 1 to 3 p.m. at Helen Hall Library. Designed for ages 18+
Canvases and painting supplies will be available for patrons to use. Supplies are limited to one canvas per person, but participants are free to bring their own 3-inch x 3-inch canvas to decorate. You can paint, collage, or pencil on the canvas. Artwork must be family friendly to be displayed. If you cannot make it, you can take a canvas and bring it back to be on display. All art returned by August 5 will be displayed in the Tiny Art Exhibit on the second floor from August 7-September 1.

Clear Creek Paddle Race
Join us at the Lynn Gripon Park at Countryside Saturday, August 19. Registration can be done online or in person the morning of the race. The Clear Creek Paddle Race is a short marathon event (4.5 miles round trip) on League City's Clear Creek. The race will begin and end at Lynn Gripon Countryside Park, the turn around is marked on the course (just past Challenger Memorial Park near Amber Lane). There are several boat categories to choose from so no matter what you paddle in or on, we have an event for you!

League City Adaptive Hoedown, Dance for Individuals with Disabilities
Join us August 19 from 6 to 9 p.m. for our League City Adaptive Hoedown! The $5 entrance fee includes 1 participant and their caregiver. Dinner is included and we will be serving a BBQ dinner sponsored by the Lions Club and music provided by The Dash Gordon Foundation. Pre-registration is required and can be done in person or by visiting our online registration site.

Musical Production Class Auditions
Musical Production Class: Participants will need to audition for this class. Auditions will be held on either Saturday, July 29 between 2-5 p.m. or Sunday, July 30 between 2-3 p.m. Participants will be able to sign up for a 30 minute time slot on either day. There will be a max of 10 people per time slot. To sign up for a time slot, visit the Activities page. Auditions will be held at the Community Center.

Taste of Code Ninjas Summer Classes
Join us for Taste of Code Ninjas as we explore the fundamentals of coding and computer systems through a variety of fun STEM activities! Laptops will be provided for all students. Classes will be held at the Community Center: 400 S. Kansas Ave. Different sessions are held weekly, Monday - Thursday from 6 to 7:30 p.m. for kids ages 6 to 12 years old. The session fee is $185. Class dates can be viewed online.
Art Adult Workshop
Join us Saturday, August 5 for Adult Art Workshop at the Community Center. The workshop will take place from 12 to 2 p.m. and the registration fee is $35 per person. This workshop is open to ages 16 and older and all experience levels. Supplies are provided.
Winning the Job Search
Join us for our upcoming Winning the Job Search workshop on August 5! This workshop will be taught by Rebecca Damas.
