Members of the League City Garden Club, Hewitt’s Heroes, and the League City Community Garden recently made a huge “planting” at the city’s Kindness Rock Garden. The painted rock garden— located at the Ghirardi Watersmart Park—was created in 2021 as part of the League City Public Art Initiative. Members of the community are encouraged to take a painted rock from the garden and leave another one in its place.
Last month, the League City Garden Club noticed the rock garden was somewhat empty and recruited members from the League City Community Garden and Hewitt’s Heroes to host a rock painting night. The evening was such a success that enough painted rocks were created to replenish the garden at the Ghirardi Watersmart Park and create a new rock garden at the Hometown Heroes Recreation Center.
Another rock painting event is scheduled for Friday, August 18 from 5 to 7:30 p.m. at Hometown Heroes. Rocks, brushes, and paint will be provided. All ages are invited.
