Clear Creek Paddle Race
Join us at the Lynn Gripon Park at Countryside Saturday, August 19. Registration can be done online or in person the morning of the race. The Clear Creek Paddle Race is a short marathon event (4.5 miles round trip) on League City's Clear Creek. The race will begin and end at Lynn Gripon Countryside Park, the turn around is marked on the course (just past Challenger Memorial Park near Amber Lane). There are several boat categories to choose from so no matter what you paddle in or on, we have an event for you!

- 9:05 am - Competitive Division Race Begins

Nature with Kristine
Join us at the Community Center this Saturday, August 12 for 2 Nature with Kristine events! Both events are free to the public and all materials are provided.
- Nature Arts & Crafts- Collage from 9 to 11 a.m.
- Animal Games and Puzzles from 2 to 4 p.m.
League City Adaptive Hoedown, Dance for Individuals with Disabilities
Join us August 19 from 6 to 9 p.m. for our League City Adaptive Hoedown at Hometown Heroes Park! The $5 entrance fee includes 1 participant and their caregiver. Dinner is included and we will be serving a BBQ dinner sponsored by the Lions Club and music provided by The Dash Gordon Foundation. Pre-registration is required and can be done in person or by visiting our online registration site.

Nature Journaling Workshop
Join Kristine Rivers of Birdng for Fun for this hands-on nature journaling workshop- no drawing skills required! Nature journals are a wonderful way to interpret the world around you and create a treasured memory of your discoveries and experiences. We'll review ideas for how to use your journal, then go outdoors for some relaxed journaling time before reconvening in the classroom. This class will take place at the Community Center.

Homeschool Pe- Fencing
En Garde! Join us for our next session of Homeschool PE- Fencing and learn techniques of the sword in a fun and safe environment. Registration is open! The next session will run Mondays, August 21 - October 16 (No class 9/4) from 12 to 1:30 p.m. Classes will be held at the Community Center: 400 S. Kansas Ave. The registration fee is $75 and class is open for ages 8-15.
NEW PROGRAM- MEAT WITH STEVE
Master your backyard BBQ skills. Class is open to novices and experts alike. We will conduct a two-day interactive BBQ class where we will learn meat selection, trimming, prep, flavor profiles, and proper doneness. Brisket, pork ribs, and turkey will be the focus. We will also prepare side dishes, appetizers, and dessert. Class will take place at Hometown Heroes Park.
Class Dates: October 20, 6 to 10 p.m. and October 21, 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Ages: 16 and older
Cost: $125
