League City residents, local businesses, scouting troops, and students seeking volunteer hours are encouraged to take part in the Trash Free Texas Cleanup on Saturday, September 9 from 7 to 10 a.m. Participants will pick up litter along the hike and bike trails surrounding Lynn Gripon Park at Countryside and along the waters of Clear Creek near the kayak launch at the park.
Volunteers can:
- Pladdle—pick up litter while paddling in a kayak or canoe. (comes from the Swedish words for pick up “plocka upp” and paddling).
- Plike—pick up litter while hiking or biking along the trails. (comes from the Swedish words “plocka upp” + “hiking/biking”).
- Plog—pick up litter while jogging along the trails (comes from the Swedish words for pick up “plocka upp” and jogging “jogga”).
In addition to helping to keep League City beautiful, participants will get some exercise and receive city swag, including a t-shirt. All cleanup supplies will be provided.
