League City volunteer firefighters, EMS staff, and members of the community took part in a “push-in” ceremony on August 8 to celebrate the arrival of Medic 3.
The ceremony honored a tradition dating back to the 1800s when fire engines were pulled by horses and had to be pushed backward into the fire station after a call.
Prior to the addition of Medic 3, the city ran four ambulances 24 hours a day, seven days a week. This fifth ambulance will serve as a “peak” ambulance operating during the busiest 14 hours of each day. This will greatly expand the city’s capacity to respond to emergencies and provides additional EMS personnel.
