[ARCHIVED] Intersection Improvement Project Complete

Work is complete on a mobility project designed to ease congestion and improve traffic flow on one of the city’s most traveled east-west roadways. The League City Parkway Intersection Improvement Project—which was part of the GO Bond Program passed by voters in 2019—will reduce current traffic delays on West League City Parkway and prepare for increased traffic in the future due to the development on the west side of the city.

The project involved replacing stop signs at the intersections of Landing Boulevard, Magnolia Meadow Lane, and Bay Area Boulevard with signalized lights and adding dedicated right turn lanes on some approaches. The project also included upgrades to the driveway at Gilmore Elementary which will improve the overall efficiency of traffic flow in front of the school, particularly during drop-off and pick-up times.

All three traffic signals were activated by early August to allow time for drivers to get used to the new traffic pattern before the start of the 2023-2024 school year. The League City Traffic Department will be monitoring traffic flow, particularly once school starts on August 22, so timing and synchronization adjustments can be made for maximum efficiency.
